This is going to be a long post so get ready to see a lot of gifs,
as I try and convey my emotional roller coaster of a journey.
So, Here we go!
On to the final part of moulding: the body.
The same process applies as i did the others, I began claying up the sculpt in a water base clayand adding keys around the edges.
The only difference with this clay up is that I had to use a heck of a lot of clay!
Unfortunatly I did not have that much time on this clay up therefore it was very rough, but i believed it would do a good job!
The process then went to the same with boxing the clay up, I used corrugated plastic again as this is what I had on hand. And then I was ready to pore the plaster in.
Uh oh!
During pouring my plaster, I soon had a 'Oh crap' thought
I had not mixed enough plaster!
Just over half of the sculpt was covered!
As I watched the last bits of plaster drip from the bowl, I ran to get my back up water on the side!
Quickly mixing, I then poured the rest in, and waited!
Once opened.......
The side I was moulding worked fine, however plaster had creeped around the side, found a few holes (which were my mistake whilst claying up) and got to the other side of the sculpt which you do not want!!
I then worked, on removing the chunks of plaster away from my sculpt and luckily.....
I managed to salvage the sculpt!!!! Minor dents and markings were made, therefore I now had to reshape the back of the body to the standard it was before.
I saved it!!!
It was ready to have the 2nd part of the plaster poured on and I ensured I had made enough this time!
Vaseline on plaster to stop the 2nd half of plaster adhering to the 1st half |
I opened the mould very slowly, praying it all worked, as I knew if this messed up, I would not have the time to re sculpt a body!
I have a mould of a body!!!!
My Sets Of Moulds Are.... Complete!
It was tricky! But I got them all done in the end! Now on to casting.
