If you haven't noticed from the title, it's major project time!
Very scary!
At the time of writing this i'm already creating molds for my character, but as I havn't updated this blog in a while I'm going to have to go back to where I started about 7 weeks ago, and talk about it as if I'm doing it now!
So here we go!
Pre Production has not gone well for me!
That's a nice way to start this off isn't it?
I have been through a couple of story lines, and designing characters, but when it came to the story board i found it difficult to convey the story I wanted within the time limit (which is a 1 minute 30 second film)
So with my initial idea scrapped I then moved on to another.
This one was of a boy with a turnip head.....
Yeah I know, bit of an odd idea
Here are some body developments of what I wanted him to look like
With the body design chosen I then began with clothing design and colour tests...
So with turnip head now finished it was on to just taking my time with the storyborads and everything else ......
Wrong...
After showing my lectures, 2 weeks before deadline, one said they did not understand how the boy would fit in to the world/story I was going for, and suggested making the turnip head more 'turnip like', with more wrinkles, spuds growing out of him, ears distorted and what have you.
But I did not want to build a puppet like that, so kept with the design, and tried to develop the story.
They still didn't think the design was strong enough and another lecturer recommended getting rid of the turnip design and just make him in to a boy.
Which I did...
Final character
I'm much happier with the character now. And see him making a much better puppet and character
The problems weren't over yet though,
Oh no no no.
With the boy designed, I now had to develop the story.
When I finally got the story how I wanted it, that then left me with 1 week to create the story board and animatic, props, illustrations of the world, secondary characters and few more things!
Luckily I finished on time!
In short
The story will be of the young boy walking through the forest, but unknowingly to him a creature is stalking him.
(Getting to that story was a lot harder than you think, as I had to think of, why the creature is stalking him? Why is the boy in the forest? How will the story develop? and a whole bunch of other things!)
I don't want to show the development and final design of the creature/zombie thing, as I would like it to be a surprise in the finished film.
(However I will be posting building and development photos of the creature on here when it comes to making him)
With all the chaos of the last 4 weeks finished let's go to the fun part and start building!!
